I recently played Marvel's Avengers and even if this sounds weird, I thought it was a much better game than Gotham Knights lol At least the combats here were pretty good, and even the campaign was honestly totally decent, it's just the endgame content that sucks, but if you just stick to the main story, it's a better game than Gotham Knights to me.
Unlike a lot of people, I was actually REALLY interested in this project when it was announced, I've been wanting a game based on the rest of the bat family since I played the DLCs in Arkham Knight, but the end result is very disappointing. The worst part about the leveling system is that it's totally useless, every new night in the city also increase the level of the ennemies, so you never feel more powerful at all, it's just a neverending loop, without any of the satifaction of getting stronger, but all the hassles of having to manage loot, crafting, inventory, levels etc. Stealth is almost impossible, you really don't have as many stealth opportunities as in the arkham games, barely any abilities related to that, only Robin can do a tiny bit of stealth but it's pretty lame honestly.Īdd to that the fact that there is a looting system, a leveling system, and you end up with something that feels like a very repetitive MMO, but with an okay story. This makes the combat have much less flow than the arkham games, and they feel incredibly boring and repetitive. The combats don't have the react / parry system that Arkham games had, instead you only have a dodge.
The story is decent, it's not the worst part of the game, but the gameplay is really lacking. It's not a "good" game, but if you're that much of a fan, maybe there are some things that will kind of save it for you. Given how you played all the arkham games 7 times.
